Interstate lacrosse trips are a popular if infrequent exercise of Australian lacrosse clubs, particularly those between South Australian and Victorian clubs. Some clubs have managed to maintain a regular exchange, such as Adelaide University and Melbourne University, and Burnside and Chadstone, while other exchanges have fallen by the wayside.
In the 1970s, the Woodville Lacrosse Club maintained an annual exchange with the Coburg Lacrosse Club in Victoria. By all accounts, those that could be recalled anyway, lacrosse was the secondary event on each occasion. Unfortunately, Coburg folded in the early 1980s.
However, in the 1990s, the Warriors established a new relationship with the Eltham Lacrosse Club. Players from these clubs were well known to each other, with both clubs producing outstanding juniors at the same time, many of them facing each other in junior state matches, or playing alongside each other in the Australian teams. Woodville and Eltham managed two exchange visits in this time, with the event going into recess once again.
In the late 2000s, the Warriors and the Panthers managed to meet each other once again, however this time for the newly-established Australian Club Championship Trophy. Hopefully this will help bring back an annual meeting between these two great clubs.
