| Warriors Game Report - 12 June 1999 |
The Warriors believed we had a good chance to beat this side, and with the amount of shots we had, we could have achieved this goal. That is, if we didn't continue the passing drill we used to warm up, and constantly throw directly to the goalie's stick. At half time, we were 6 goals to 1 down and we looked very ordinary.
Only two of Glenelg's players appeared truly dangerous, and Natalie Brook and Lyndall Holmes worked well in defence to try to shut them down (and yes, I’m still feeling the effects of that blind pick from Fiona Turner!)
Melissa Brasted was called up from the B side and played an important role in her first A Grade game. Krissy Wilson and Nicky Mordowicz ran hard all day, until Nicky was sidelined with a knee strain, and Emma Hart played another good game in goals.
Although our defence is improving, we wouldn't continue to get so much match practice if we could only get the ball out of centre. We are allowing the opposition to control the centre draws and this is a major problem for our team.
The final score of 13 goals to 2 was disappointing against virtually a second rate team. Next week we play Uni Eagles, a team we need to beat if we have any chance of making this year's finals.
