| Warriors Game Report - 17 April 1999 |
The first quarter was a close one, 3 goals to 2 down at the break. The Warriors looked good with several shots on goal which went astray, but enthusiasm was high and they played an attacking game.
The second quarter was not as impressive. The Uni Eagles are a fast break team, and consistently losing possession at the centre draw was not helping Woodville. The Warriors let themselves down by not contesting the ball when it hit the ground and the Uni Eagles took advantage of this.
The third quarter was a repeat of the second, the Warriors couldn't get into the game. The defence was not talking, although this will certainly be rectified given match practice.
But the final quarter really brought a turn around. The Warriors once again fought for the ball, and held the Eagles out. This quarter was played more in the Woodville attack, giving opportunities to forwards Kylie Taylor and Natalie Brook to score.
The Warriors went down by 17 goals to 8. However, the girls were not overly disappointed with this result as there were many positives to take into the next game. Weaknesses, such as contesting the centre draws and ground balls will be worked on during trainings.
The team is looking forward to their clash with last year's runners up, Brighton, in the Club's Centenary Games this weekend at Woodville.
