Warriors bomb Brighton to remain undefeated

This week's training was very positive, short and sharp, focussing on the game plan and a few new plays gearing up for the finals. The Warriors travelled to Brighton Oval this week to take on the Brighton Bombers. Once again the Warriors were hit with injuries with defender Dan Hart out and midfielder Brett Howe also out with injury. This saw a return to League for Charles Manning in the defence line. This week also saw the much awaited return of co-captain and starting defender Richard Feleppa after a 3 game absence.

The Warriors stormed into the first quarter with a barrage of shots on the Brighton goal, pressuring their defence constantly scoring seven first quarter goals with five different scorers. The ever dependable Woodville defensive unit held strong again holding Brighton's attack to a single goal skipping out to a 7-1 lead at the first break.

The second quarter was played very much in the midfield with transition the key due to both sides continuously turning the ball over. The umpires seemed to be letting a great deal of checks go without penalty which made the game a little scrappy. However both teams came out even scoring 2 goals each for the quarter as Woodville lead 9-3 at the long break.

The Warriors seemed to catch their second wind in the third quarter, capitalising on every scoring opportunity as they found the back of the Brighton goal six times for the quarter. The defence, lead by Richard Feleppa, held strong allowing Brighton only a single goal in the third quarter as Woodville settled and played a great brand of lacrosse, moving the ball well all over the field. The Warriors went into the final break up 15-4.

The last quarter saw a very disciplined game by the Warriors controlling and valuing the ball as the defence yet again established themselves as the best in the competition, with Richard Feleppa holding Brighton's leading scorer, Leigh Perham, goalless and was not a factor for the entire game. The Warriors scored a further 3 goals for the game and held Brighton scoreless, winning the game 18-4.
