| Warriors Game Report - 29 May 1999 |
The first quarter saw a very sluggish start by the Warriors who looked lethargic. Some early turnovers cost Woodville the possession of the ball in the attacking half. However the Warriors managed to salvage the quarter by finding the back of the net four times. The Woodville defence again did a great job holding Sturt to four goals to end the quarter locked 4 - 4.
The Warriors knew what had to be done in the second quarter and they controlled the ball for most of the quarter, creating some very good shooting options as Woodville went on a nine goal run. Sturt failed to find much of the ball in their attacking half during this quarter and could only manage two goals ending the half with Woodville in control 13 - 6.
The last two quarters of the game were played in much the same fashion. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and then Sturt scrapped hard to fight back on the scoreboard. The Warriors were helped along by a Sturt player's 2 minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for blatantly chopping James Inge across the thigh on a ground ball. The Warriors managed to slot away three goals during this penalty... (I hope it was worth the three goals). Both the third and final quarters ended with Woodville scoring 6 goals and keeping Sturt to only 3 goals in each quarter. The Warriors ran out winners with a 25 - 12 victory taking them to a (7-0) record for the year.
