| Warriors Game Report - 1 May 1999 |
With first use of the ball through great face-off work from Peter Inge and Jason Vorrasi, the Warriors' attack was very sharp jumping out to an early 5-0 lead. A slight lapse in motivation and some good play by Brighton saw them score 4 unanswered goals to finish the quarter only one goal down with the score 5-4 at the first break.
This fired up Woodville who were very focussed in the second quarter. Once again the Warrior defence proved its strength holding Brighton to a single goal for the quarter. James Inge got the attack going with 3 great goals as the Green and Gold went on to score seven for the quarter extending their lead to 12 -5 at half time.
The third quarter turned into a scrappy affair as the referees didn't make many calls as Brighton began to throw the sticks with little control. The Warriors showed good discipline in not reacting to the slashes and went about their business as usual. With 3 assists from James Inge, Woodville got going again ending the quarter with six goals and the defence holding the Bombers to only 3, taking the score to 18 - 8.
Once again different players were thrown into attack to get some exposure in that position. Steve Hogan in his first League game was let loose in attack and scored two quick goals. It was a shame to see Ben Hamilton score for Brighton on transition late in the quarter, as Craig Schicker had completely shut him out of the game with some great defence.
